Organisation

The Québec Government has a network of 33 offices throughout the world, including eight General Delegations (government offices) in the following cities: Paris, Brussels, Dakar, London, Los Angeles, Munich, Mexico, New York et Tokyo.

Through its representations abroad, the ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie supports Québec businesses, creators, researchers and institutions by offering them services, advice, and activities tailor-made for the various countries in its network.  

The Québec Government Office in London (QGOL) was opened in 1962.  Its mandate is to develop and support economic, political, institutional and cultural exchanges with the countries on its territory, namely the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Nordic countries.

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director for Political and Public Affairs, the incumbent:

• Develops and maintains the establishment and strengthening of links, partnerships and exchanges between governments, elected individuals and bodies and institutions from Québec, and the seven countries covered by the QGOL; the incumbent also coordinates the follow-up actions to these initiatives;


• Monitors and analyzes current affairs and public policies in the seven countries covered by the QGOL;


• Makes direct and significant contributions to the organisation and success of official visits by Premiers, Ministers or other political figures and senior civil servants;


• Takes part in the development and implementation of the QGOL’s action plan and Québec’s strategy from a political point of view, taking into account Québec’s priorities, including the fight against climate change, transport electrification and economic development;


• Contributes to the promotion of Québec studies in the universities within the QGOL’s territory;


• Offers strategic guidance to the Director for Political and Public Affairs and the Agent-General on the approaches and directions to take on the QGOL’s territory in order to reach Québec’s objectives.

Required profile:

• High level of proficiency in French and English (oral and written).  Knowledge of Nordic languages is an asset.


• In-depth knowledge of the British society, its nations, its history, its policies as well as current issues, trends and customs;


• In-depth knowledge of Québec, its political, social, cultural and economic evolution as well as its assets and interests in the various fields covered by the ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie;


• Knowledge of Ireland and the Nordic countries;
  Excellent organisational skills, thoroughness and professionalism;


• Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically;


• B.A. or M.A. in international relations, political science, economics, communications, public administration, law or any other related subject;


• Five years’ experience in international relations or any other relevant field;


• The selected candidate will have to go through security clearance. 

The candidates must be authorised to work in the United Kingdom.  The QGOL will not assist with the obtaining of work permits.

35-hour week from Monday to Friday
