Québec conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will make his debut at New York’s prestigious Avery Fisher Hall on August 4-5 as part of the Mostly Mozart Festival.
To the delight of New York concertgoers, Mr. Nézet-Séguin will conduct a program of works by Stravinsky, Mozart and Mendelssohn. Dubbing him a “whirlwind”, the New York Times went on to describe him as a “charismatic young lion” who has taken the classical music world by storm.
Mr. Nézet-Séguin, currently artistic director of Montreal’s Orchestre Métropolitain and the Rotterdam Philharmonic, in addition to principal guest conductor of the London Philharmonic, will also be appearing later this year at New York’s Metropolitan Opera, where he will conduct a new production of the opera Carmen premiering on December 31.
