The Québec Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Gaétan Barrette, and the Québec Representative in Los Angeles, Ms. Elizabeth MacKay, participated in a multi-sector mission at the 2017 BIO International Convention that took place from June 19 to 22 in San Diego.
Each year, more than 16,000 leaders in the biotechnology industry attend this event in order to develop partnerships, share ideas and attract new investments. The Québec delegation played a strategic role to make it clear that Québec is open for business!
More than four hundred guests showed up at Rendez-Vous Québec, an evening networking event that turned out to be a terrific success. Leaders in the industry, from Québec and around the globe, came together to develop their respective networks and broaden horizons for new business opportunities. In his speech, Minister Barrette reiterated the Québec government’s goals and budget commitments in life sciences.
Québec’s partnership-oriented presence at the BIO convention allowed 45 Québec companies, organizations, research centers, and other players in the field, to use its booth for productive meetings with potential international collaborators.
It goes without saying that Quebec, positioned as a key player in biotechnology, led an immensely successful mission.
