On April 19th and 20th 2017, representatives of the Québec Government Office joined the 15th annual Navigating the American Carbon World conference in San Francisco.
This annual meeting brought together more than 600 people. Discussions were held on many different themes, such as: extension of the California cap-and-trade program beyond 2020, Canadian provincial leadership and cooperation with federal efforts, the new federal administration in the U.S. and climate policies, etc. The honourable Catherine McKenna, Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change gave a keynote address in front of the participants on the importance of trade between the U.S. and Canada, investments in clean energy and the central role that carbon pricing will play in growing a clean economy.
California Governor Jerry Brown also gave a speech in favour of the carbon market and urged stronger action against climate change.
