On October 17, the Québec Delegation had a representative at the First annual Zero Emission Market Acceleration Partnerships Workshop. Organized by the Policy Institute for Energy, Environment and the Economy at UC Davis, the representatives from eight states and five American and Canadian cities gathered to exchange ideas about the best ways to accelerate the adoption of zero emission vehicles in their respective jurisdictions. It also allowed each representative to share the strengths and challenges of its local and regional market.
Québec is at the forefront of the adoption of electric vehicles in Canada. More than 50% of the electric vehicles sold in Canada are in Québec. With more than 300 charging stations, the Circuit Électrique (Electric Circuit) is a public-private partnership that counts over 75 companies, cities and institutions; one of the key players in this group is Hydro-Québec, the world’s largest hydroelectric producer.
The Zero Emission MAP initiative provides evidence-based knowledge needed by states and cities to implement efficient strategies to sustain and accelerate the growth of markets for zero emission vehicles.
