The purpose of the event was to build awareness upon the importance of the Québec/United States relations.
The Québec Representative in Los Angeles, Alain Houde, gave a lecture on Québec and climate change before an audience of students and faculty members. Moreover, Washington State being also a leader in the United States in the environmental sector, it is a key ally for Québec in the fight against climate change.
By late afternoon, over fifty people attended a reception, including the president of the university. The event also helped promote studying in Québec.
Western Washington University has one of only two Canadian studies centers in the United States which are awarded a grant from the U.S. federal government.
This semester, three classes on Québec are offered, including one by Professor Julie Dufort from the University of Québec in Montreal.
