This year, the Québec Government Office in Los Angeles will celebrate La Francophonie in Los Angeles (CA), San Francisco (CA) and in Denver (CO).
French Language Cinema in L.A. - March 18 to 22, 2013
The Québec Government Office will organize, in collaboration with the Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz of the Lycée français de Los Angeles, TV5, other francophones consulates in Los Angeles, a week of French Language cinéma. A French film will be screened every evening and Québec will present "Laurence Anyways" by Xavier Dolan on Friday, March 22.

Café des sciences at USC - (University of Southern California) - Tuesday, March 12, 2013
The Délégation of Québec in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States, and the Francophone Resource & Research Center of USC with other Francophone and Francophile partners will organize a "Science Café event " to celebrate La Francophonie.
Fabien Pinaud, Professor of Molecular Biology and Computational at USC, will give a lecture in which he will present his research: "Nanobiology: high-resolution imaging of the miniature world of cell."
Francophonie in the Spotlight - March 5, 2013
The Alliance française of San Francisco will be Screening the Québec movie "The Barbarian Invasions" as part of the “Francophonie in the spotlight” series to celebrate the month of La Francophonie on Tuesday, March 5.
Other movies will be screened too during the month of March and they originate from Tchad, Belgium and Mauritania. Apart from the Barbarian Invasions, the Alliance will screen "A Screaming Man", "The kid on the bike" and "Bamako".
Dictée de la Baie - March 16, 2013
The Alliance française will also host on March 16, la Dictée de la Baie, which targets both Francophones and Francophiles. One hundred candidates compete in different categories: French and Francophone adults, French and Francophone adolescents, children, and the category Francophile.
Quebec will provide gifts to the winning participants. This event will be organized in partnership with Apple to Pomme, Calparrio, the Consulate General of France, the Consulate General of Switzerland, l’Ecole des Loisirs, Les Chemins de la Liberté (Roads to Freedom), San Francisco beyond the postcard, and TV5 Monde.
The Dictée de la Baie will be followed by a reception with music, traditional food and dance. There will be dancers from East Africa, Haiti and also drummers from Mali.
This event is organized jointly by the Alliance française and Marco Senghor, the owner of Bissap Baobab.
Canada and its partners celebrate La Francophonie - Saturday March 23, 2013
In collaboration with the Canadian Consulate in Denver, the Denver Film society and other partners, the Québec Government Office in the West Coast will organize a special Day to commemorate La Francophonie.
Alain Houde, the Québec Government Representative will be in Denver and take part in the events : there will be a screening of a Québec movie, followed by a round table on the role and influence of La Francophonie in the World and in our region in particular. A reception will conclude the day's activities.
