Québec at VerdeXchange conference in Los Angeles

Quebec has taken an active role in VerdeXchange International Conference on green technologies, which took place in Los Angeles from February 3 to 5. More than 250 companies, policy makers and experts attended that event.

Jean-Yves Benoît, Acting Director, Carbon Market, Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment, Wildlife and Parks, Alain Houde, Quebec Government Representative in Los Angeles, David Abel, CEO, VerdeXchange, Daniel Paquette, Director of Economic Affairs, Quebec Government Office in Los Angeles, and Melissa Isom, Business Development Manager, Quebec Government Office in Los Angeles.

Representatives of Enerkem and PyroGenesis, two Québec leading companies which are also very active in the United States, were members of panels. They had the opportunity to present their cutting-edge technologies in waste management and bio-fuels.

In the plenary session, Jean-Yves Benoit, the Québec representative of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment, Wildlife and Parks, gave a presentation on the functioning of the carbon market in Québec. And, as part of the Western Climate Initiative, he identified concrete stages leading to the linkage of the Québec market with that of California.

Québec's participation in that conference is the result of a partnership between VerdeXchange and the Québec Delegation in Los Angeles, which has a mandate to promote Québec green technologies and innovative environmental policies in the Western U.S., especially in California which is the United States leader in that area.
