Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, ranked the second of Québec's seven wonders in a recent survey among Québecers, is getting a makeover! Investments of close to $66 million will allow the esteemed hotel establishment, built in 1893, to rejuvenate its 618 rooms and main lobby, replace its roof and expand its Fairmont Gold floors and spa. As a national historic site of Canada, and a destination for renowned personalities,
the Château spotlights various Québec artifacts and works of art.
Quebec is gearing up for the Chicago Collective (www.chicagocollectiveonline.com), one of the most important menswear shows in the U.S. and Canada, which will go from August 11th-13th. Several original lines from Montreal will be on display, including classy ensembles from this edition’s featured Quebec company, Ballin (www.ballin.com). In early June 2013, the Premier, Pauline Marois, the Minister of Finance & the Economy, Nicolas Marceau, and Élaine Zakaïb, Minister for Industry Policy and the Banque de développement économique du Québec, announced a $10 million ($CAD) contribution to Ericsson Canada, the Canadian affiliation of Ericsson, for its new IT and Communications Center in Vaudreuil-Dorion just outside of Montréal.

This May, the Québec Government Office in Chicago welcomed 12 different Québec companies and organizations to Chicago for the 2013 Windpower conference and exhibition. This annual trade show is organized by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and is a key event worldwide for companies working in the wind energy industry. The AWEA conference is the focal point for wind professionals to network with and learn from industry leaders and experts, and to discover the latest in industry products and services. Although a majority of attendees were American, 1,500 came from over 56 different countries other than the US, representing around 17% of the show’s total attendance.
