Aero Montreal will hold its Annual Innovation Forum next week in Montreal’s Palais des congrès from Dec. 2nd through 4th. The organization is at the forefront of the aerospace industry in the Montreal region. Its members include the region’s major aerospace manufacturers and their supply chains, research and educational institutions, and suppliers of software and services to the aerospace industry.
From November 11 to 13, close to 30 Québec companies took part in the Private Label Merchandiser Association Trade Show (PLMA), in Chicago. PLMA is North America’s largest private label agri-food trade show, with store brands ranging from those of large retailers to small business labels. The 2012 edition drew some 1,000 participants from around the world.
On December 4th & 5th, 2013, roughly two dozen Québec companies – manufacturers, producers and suppliers of hardware, home improvement and construction related goods and equipment as well as food & beverage products – will be visiting Menards’ headquarters in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. This hardware and home-improvement store chain has 289 stores across the Midwest, an ideal distributor for the visiting Québec companies.
As a young woman, Theresa McLoud ventured north of the border to earn her medical degree at McGill University in Montreal and stayed to complete her residency in radiology there. This December in Chicago, she is to be one of just three recipients of the prestigious RSNA Gold Medal, awarded by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) at its 99th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting. Dr. McLoud is to be honored for her work as “one of the foremost educators in her field” and a global promoter of the radiology discipline as past president of RSNA and a professor at Harvard Medical School.
Québec shined in Los Angeles during the American Film Market (AFM) and the American Film Institute Festival (AFI FEST), which were held in the world's movie capital from October 31 to November 8, 2012.
This year, 35 Québec food and beverage companies will be exhibiting at the Private Label Manufacturers Association Trade Show (PLMA) in Chicago from Nov. 17th through 19th 2013. This is one of the most important events in the private label or store brand industry in North America and is held each November in Chicago.
On June 12, 2013, State Representative Bill LaVoy (D-Monroe) introduced a resolution declaring Oct. 4 as French-Canadian Heritage Day in Michigan. The Québec Government Office in Chicago actively took part in Michigan’s first French-Canadian Heritage Day by organizing a series of public programs celebrating French-Canadian heritage in the Midwest.
More than 20 Québec companies participated in the 86th edition of the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) in Chicago from Oct. 5th-9th. The event is the most important trade show in North America in the water and wastewater treatment industry.

Construction of the Village is expected to begin around mid-December, or later depending on the temperature. The Snow Village will officially open in January.
Lisette L receives more celebrity endorsement since Kathie Lee and Hoda first raved about them on Today. Oprah recently featured them in her eponymous magazine saying that she loved the slim-fitting pants so much at a photo shoot, she took them home to wear. Lisette L was featured in the Oct. 13th edition of O, The Oprah Magazine. Lisette L’s headquarters are in Montréal, and all the pants are designed and made in Québec. The company stocks over 90,000 units in their warehouse in Montréal, which ensures a quick delivery to hundreds of retailers in North America.
Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, and the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Québec (CRIAQ), signed two major strategic cooperation agreements in September with the Ohio Aerospace Institute. Since it was actively involved in reaching these agreements, the Québec Government Office in Chicago was represented at the signing by Éric Marquis, who assisted in initiating these new partnerships.
The Government of Québec launched its Economic Policy Putting Jobs First on October 7. One of the objectives of the policy is to attract foreign investments and stimulate exports. The policy should generate nearly $13 billion in public and private investments over the next 10 years.
With support from the Québec Government Office in Chicago, eleven booking agents representing 36 Québec shows participated in the 2012 Midwest Arts Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in September. This celebration of the performing arts brings together some 1,000 performing artists, booking agents and presenters from the United States and Canada each year.
Québec Government Representative in Chicago, Éric Marquis, together with the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Finance and the Economy, Alain Therrien, and the MNA for Marquette, François Ouimet, participated in the annual meeting of the Council of State Governments (CSG), held from September 19 to 22 in Kansas City, Missouri.
