Montréal, November 28, 2016 - A fast-track growth center, Centre de croissance accélérée, for Québec businesses active in American markets, especially the Mid Atlantic region, New England and the Midwest, will be launched in early 2017. The creation of the center was announced this afternoon by the Minister for the Economy, Science and Innovation and the Minister Responsible for the Digital Strategy, Dominique Anglade, accompanied by the Quebec’s Delegate General in New York Jean Claude Lauzon and the Québec’s Delegate in Boston, Marie Claude Francoeur.
The announcement follows the unveiling last month of the 2016-2020 Québec Export Strategy, which included the section "Destination: U.S.". The creation of the center, to be led by the Québec Government Office in New York in collaboration with Québec delegations in Boston and Chicago, is the first measure resulting from this strategy. The Centre de croissance accélérée will act in concert with activities and programs established by Export Québec. Government support as high as 2 million dollars, primarily provided by the Programme Exportation, will be granted over the next three years to support this initiative. Of that, 1.8 million dollars will support consulting projects for Québec businesses.
"The U.S. is Québec's primary commercial partner at the international level. The size and wealth of this market generates a multitude and wide variety of business opportunities. We must therefore intensify our efforts in order to heighten our presence and strengthen our economy. With this in mind, the Centre de croissance accélérée will offer consulting service tailor-made for Québec businesses aiming to fully tap into their potential and maximize their chances for success in the U.S.," stated Minister Dominique Anglade.
The Centre de croissance accélérée will recruit expert consultants from major local American firms, who will help Québec businesses pursue their development in the U.S. Businesses will be selected according to criteria established in concert with varied partners in the center, and may qualify for a 6-to-12 month consulting period. Services available will include detailed analysis of target markets, and sales and partnership strategies. Some forty Québec businesses will benefit from services provided by the Centre de croissance accélérée over the next three years.
"This Centre will allow us to gather the best local consultants around one table, who can then respond and adapt to the specific needs of the businesses chosen for the initiative. These experts have in-depth knowledge of the American market and its dynamics, and with the help of partners and local Québec offices, will be able to suitably guide our businesses in their approach to growth in the U.S.," said the Minister for International Relations and the Francophonie and Minister Responsible for the Laurentian Region, Christine St Pierre.
