On December 13, Marianne Bonnard, Acting Head of Post of the Québec Government Office in Boston (QGOB), spoke at the National Corridors Initiative (NCI): 2013 Conference in Lowell, Massachusetts.
The theme of the conference, chaired by Governor Michael S. Dukakis, was Regional Rail: A New England/Eastern Canadian Renaissance In The Making.
Marianne Bonnard, Acting Head of Post, was on site to present to the attending law makers, scholars and professional the recent rail transportation developments between Québec and New England.
Ms. Bonnard gave an update on the negociations for preclearance at Montréal Main Station and reviewed the different agreements Québec has with the Northeastern states. Ms. Bonnard also said a few words on the private sector overnight train project between Montréal and Portland, Maine.
The portion of the presentation on freight trains was focused on the recent intergovernmental discussions on improving rail safety, namely through a better identification and tracking of hazardous material.
